As co-founder of Belimo Automation AG, Walter Linsi became part of an extraordinary success story. Founded in 1975 in Gossau, the company developed into an international enterprise within twenty years.
Origin and future
The idea for the common good
From the very beginning, the company was consistently built on the principles of EKS (bottleneck-focused strategy), following the principle of "customer benefit before self-interest". Belimo is the world market leader in the development, manufacture, and sale of field devices for the energy-efficient control of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems. The company employs approximately 2000 people in over 80 countries and has been listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange (SIX) since 1995.
The founders
Through the IPO of Belimo Holding AG, the founders Ursula and Walter Linsi gained wealth through their share in the company. This fact motivated and moved them to establish the U.W. Linsi Foundation in 1997. Based on Belimo's mission statement "Customer benefit before self-interest", the founders decided on the vision of putting public benefit before self-interest. In this spirit, the majority of the shares were transferred to the foundation. The entrepreneurial methods that have led Belimo to success were also to have maximum effect in the projects supported by the foundation.
Belimo and the Linsi Foundation
The Linsi Foundation is the largest single shareholder of Belimo Holding AG. The financial and operational activities of the Foundation are defined by Belimo's economic success, which is the result of the great commitment from all employees. The Linsi Foundation is committed to this. As part of the "Belimo Social Percentage" initiative, the Foundation supports Belimo and its employees in their commitment to the common good in line with the Foundation's mission.
The Linsi Family
In the meantime, the foundation has been established across generations with additional family members. After 24 years of active work in the foundation management, the founder of the foundation Walter Linsi has passed on the responsibility to his son, Urban, in spring 2021. The new generation, together with the board of trustees and the team, promote the foundation's purpose to continue into the future in the spirit of the founders.
