Privacy policy
The U.W. Linsi Foundation respects your privacy
Protecting your privacy when processing personal data and the security of all personal data are important to us. This data protection declaration is to inform you about what data of yours we process, what we need this data for and how you can object to the data processing.
We collect, process and store personal data (including IP addresses) only in accordance with the law or if you have given us your consent, for example in the context of a registration.
What personal data do we collect?
We only collect personal data that is related to our relationship with you. The data we collect includes, in particular, your contact details such as your name, telephone number, postal address or email address, as well as other information, in particular in connection with a funding application and the use of our website. By contrast, information that cannot be linked to your identity (e.g. statistical information on the number of users of our online services) is not considered personal data.
How do we collect personal data?
We generally collect personal data in the following cases: when you submit a funding application to our foundation; when you visit our website; when you communicate with us directly; when you register for our events; when you take part in a survey; or when you provide us with your personal data for other reasons. In all cases, we process your personal data exclusively for the specific and recognisable purpose.
Do we pass on your personal data?
We will only forward your personal data to other third parties if we are legally entitled to do so or if you have given us your consent to do so. This is the case, for example, if we carry out external project evaluations in agreement with you. Further information can be found in the funding agreement. If data is disclosed abroad, we ensure that we comply with the relevant legal requirements (ensuring adequate protection).
External service providers who process data on our behalf are strictly bound by contract in accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act. We have satisfied ourselves that the external service providers are able to guarantee data security. They may only transfer the processing of personal data to a third party with our prior consent.
How long do we store your personal data?
We store your data for as long as our business relationship with you requires it or we have a legitimate interest in further storage. In all other cases, we delete your personal data, with the exception of data that we must continue to store in order to fulfil legal obligations (e.g. we are obliged by law to store documents such as contracts and invoices for a period of 10 years).
What data is processed when you use our website?
You can visit our website without having to provide any personal information. When you visit our website, our servers temporarily store each access in a log file. The following technical data is collected and stored by us until it is automatically deleted after a maximum of twelve months:
· IP address of the requesting computer
· Date and time of access
· Website from which access occurred, with the search term used if applicable
· Name and URL of the file retrieved
· Search queries carried out
· Your computer's operating system (provided by the user agent)
· Browser you are using (provided by the user agent)
· Device type in the case of access from mobile phones
· Transmission protocol used
The collection and processing of this data is used for system security and stability and for error and performance analysis, as well as for internal statistical purposes and to enable us to optimise our website. The IP address is also used to set the default language of the website. Finally, when you visit our website, we use cookies as well as applications and tools that are based on the use of cookies. You can find more information on this in the following chapter.
Every person has a right to information in accordance with the law. You can therefore demand to be informed about the data we have collected about you. You can also request that your personal data be corrected or deleted. If you have consented to data collection in the past, you can revoke this consent at any time.
Write us your request or question to the address under imprint.
What are cookies and when are they used?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer when you visit our website. If you visit the site again, your browser sends the content of the cookies back to us, thus enabling the device to be recognised. Reading cookies enables us to optimise our website for you and make it easier for you to use.
When you visit our website, you will see a pop-up message informing you that cookies are set on our site and that you are allowing this by using the website.
If you decide not to allow cookies, you can deactivate and delete all cookies in your browser at any time. Please refer to your browser's help function for more information. However, switching off cookies may mean that some of the functions on our website are no longer available to you. If you use a different browser or a different device, you will need to repeat the deactivation or deletion process.
You can also manage and disable the use of cookies by third parties via the following website: http://www.youronlinechoices.com/de/praferenzmanagement. This website is not operated by us, so we are not responsible for its content and availability and have no influence over it.
How are tracking tools used?
We need statistical information about the use of our online services (in particular our website) in order to make it more user-friendly, to measure its reach and to conduct market research. For this purpose, we may use web analysis tools, in particular Google Analytics. The user profiles created by these tools using analysis cookies are not merged with personal data. The tools either do not use users' IP addresses at all or abbreviate them immediately after collection.
In addition to the data listed above (see “What data is processed when you use our website?”), we receive the following information:
· The visitor's navigation path on the website
· Time spent on the website or subpage
· Subpage from which the website is exited
· Country, region or city from which access occurs
· Terminal device (type, version, colour depth, resolution, width and height of the browser window)
· Returning or new visitor
·
The information is used to evaluate the use of the website. If you wish to deactivate Google Analytics, you will find the appropriate browser add-on at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. As explained in the previous section, you can prevent the creation of user profiles altogether by generally disabling the use of cookies.
Social media
Our website does not use any social plugins from social media providers such as Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn.
Third-party services
We use the services of specialised third parties to enable us to carry out our activities and operations in a sustainable, user-friendly, secure and reliable manner. These services allow us, among other things, to embed functions and content in our website. When this is done, the services used will, for technical reasons, at least temporarily record the IP addresses of users.
For necessary security-related, statistical and technical purposes, third parties whose services we use may process data in connection with our activities and operations in an aggregated, anonymised or pseudonymised form. This may include, for example, performance or usage data in order to provide the respective service.

Documents:
We use third-party services to integrate documents into our website. Such documents may include, for example, forms, PDF files, presentations, spreadsheets and text documents. We can use them not only to view but also to edit or comment on such documents.
We use in particular:
• Microsoft 365 (also Microsoft Office 365): text documents as well as forms, presentations and tables; provider: Microsoft; Microsoft 365-specific information: ‘Data protection and security with Microsoft 365’.
